12 steps is an octave so open strings we started on E-A-D-G-B-E and on the 12th fret we find the same notes. Everything above the 12th fret just minus 12 from it and match it with the chart above. Example 16 – 12 = 4 so fret 4 and fret 16 notes are the same just an octave apart.

24 would be another octave and available on some necks of electric guitars. 24 is the same notes as 12, which are also the same as 0 (open).
